Our Origin
La Sangrita It's that classic Mexican drink that traditionally accompanies tequila whenever it's served in a caballito. It's almost a ritual, or, if you prefer, a tradition. Legend has it that the Sangrita it is tequila's consort, the elegant, understated companion that never outshines it, but softens its fiery bite.
La Sangrita it was born in Jalisco, the heart of tequila country, at a bar run by Doña Guadalupe Sánchez and her husband, José. There, tourists, locals, and lovers of fine spirits and nightlife were served tequila (a drink of ancestral origin, produced around 1938) alongside a blend of hot sauce, orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, and grenadine. Over time, this drink grew famous and became the inseparable companion of Mexican tequila. The recipe quickly spread throughout Mexico, and many establishments adopted it with their own twists, such as adding tomato juice, among others.
Sangrita is, by tradition, tequila's best friend, but today it is also a delicious companion to mezcal and beer, as well as an ingredient in delicious dishes.
Sangrita Castiza it is a revival of time-honored traditions, based on a recipe of natural fruit and vegetable ingredients that offer a perfect balance of flavor and notes for the most discerning connoisseurs of premium spirits, mixology, and contemporary cuisine.
